The revision of inspection reporting fault codes to a simpile 3 code system reduced down from the old 4 code system should see the end of confusion and the ever present "grey area" of the inspecting engineers interpretation of the applicable regulation.
The three fault codes are clearly set out to aid the inspecting engineer review the system for its safe and continued use.
Code 1: Danger present, Risk of injury. Immediate remedial work required.
Code 2: Potentially dangerous - urgent remedial action required
Code 3: Improvement recommended
This new system should help dramatically reduce the number of Code 1 and 2 defects presented to the client as most "inspectors recommendations" (old Code 2) will now sit within the new Code 3 and will not affect the outcome of the inspection report.
